HB City Issues

The HB City Council MAGA majority's tenure has been disruptive and destructive. They passed amendments to the city charter that might require voter IDs and restrict the flags flown in city facilities. They have raised the salary of the city attorney so that he makes as much as the Los Angeles city attorney. They settled a law suit with the company that brings us the Air Show when were clearly not responsible for closing the air space during the show in 2021. Now they are attacking the HB Public Library by instituting a review board to evaluate childrens books and by starting the process of privatizing the library. Please go to the Voter Engagement page for a full description of the problems at hand and for opportunities to help.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

VOTE for Measures A and B by June 10. Donate to www.ourlibrarymatters.org/ This organization is running the campaign to pass these measures.

Attend council and commission meetings, contact the council members (call, email, make in-person appointments, attend protest meeting (See Protect HB for activities and opportunities),join the Friends of the Library and donate, talk to your friends and neighbors--most people lead busy lives and are not well informed on local issues.

MAKE YOUR OWN PUBLICITY

Creative activists are using the HB Library "makerspace" to create signs and buttons advertising the upcoming election. Go to hbpl.libguides.com/makerspace for information on the center and hours of operation.

Each quarter OCHuddle shares it's funds with an organization who represents a worthy cause. Please consider supporting HBTrees. Check out their website for opportunities to help and participate.
